The Glacier Adventure - Columbia Icefield Tour

The Glacier Adventure™ reveals the most unique attraction in the Canadian Rockies.

The trip out to the Columbia Icefield takes approximately 1 hr 45 minutes along Canada’s most scenic mountain roadway - The Icefield Parkway. This is the route to over one hundred visible glaciers, turquoise lakes, rushing waterfalls, alpine meadows and snow-capped peaks. Getting to the Columbia Icefield is a remarkable attraction in itself!

The Columbia Icefield is the largest sub-polar body of ice in North America and is one of the reasons why the United Nations declared Canada’s four Rocky Mountain Parks a World Heritage Site. It covers an area of nearly 325 square kilometers, sometimes reaching a depth of 300-360 meters (1150 feet) deep.

Today's glacier adventure takes you onto the surface of the Athabasca Glacier in a unique, specially designed Ice Explorer.

Your 80 minute "Ice Time" journey is lead by an experienced driver-guide, who shares a wealth of fascinating information about glaciers, icefield and their impact on our environment. Mid-point in the tour, you can safely step out onto the glacier and stand on this powerful ancient ice.

This Ice Age adventure is a once in a lifetime experience! Caution is advised – the ice surface may be wet and slippery.
